IAC Honors Drumroll with Six Awards
AUSTIN, Texas — March 19, 2009 — Drumroll won six Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) awards from the Web Marketing Association for the agency’s work with Macerich, Simple Power and Drumroll’s own holiday experience site, Picture Perfect.
The IAC Awards are the first and only industry-based advertising award competition dedicated exclusively to online advertising. IAC entries are judged by representatives from both the Internet and advertising communities and are critiqued according to their innovation, impact, design, copywriting and use of the medium.
Macerich’s GIVE program, www.givethegiftcard.com, received an award for “Outstanding Website” in the Financial Services category. To bring the new gift card brand vision to life, Macerich asked Drumroll to establish a strategic brand experience through the Web. Drumroll saw an opportunity to translate the emotional, visual and functional sensations associated with purchasing and receiving gift cards into a fun and inspiring online gift card shopping experience.
Also bestowed with an “Outstanding Website” award, Macerich’s Teen Life of Style, www.teenlifeofstyle.com, was recognized in the IAC Shopping category. Drumroll developed the site to be a central component of Macerich’s teen engagement efforts, Teen Life of Style Crew, which features a group of teens selected to help their peers meet the fashion needs of today’s teenage culture. The site celebrates teen fashion in an experience that’s as exciting as a red carpet walk surrounded by paparazzi and reflective of the style and attitude teens want and expect. Visitors can find interactive crew bios, style tips, photos, and even Style-A-Sodes, video highlights from photo shoots and events.
Simple Power, www.simplepower.net, took top honors in the Energy site category with the “Best Energy Website” award. To ensure the Texas energy newcomer stood out from competitors in a normally sterile market, Drumroll established a playful tone and site design to reflect Simple Power’s personality and position it as the “Anti-Energy” company with emphasis on valued customer relationships.
Additionally, Drumroll’s holiday experience site, Picture Perfect, pictureperfect.drumroll.com, earned three IAC honors: “Best General Interest Website,” “Best Other Website” and “Outstanding Website” in the Advertising category. In an effort to spread a little holiday cheer and showcase the agency’s creative strengths, Drumroll crafted the festive site’s experience as a nod to the classic Holiday Claymation style and spirit. Visitors to the holiday site can create personalized characters and families and save their creations as printable holiday cards, computer desktops and even e-mail a digital card to friends and family.
